Our New Self is being Renewed in the Image of our Creator

9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Paul delineates how a new born believer goes through a transformation process by taking off the old self and at the same time putting on the new self. The old self refers to the practices, mindset, inclinations of the sinful nature while the new self refers to the new life that is from God. This process requires the determination of a believer to deny the old self while submitting to the will of God. However, Paul also affirms that this is a renewal process that is done by the Holy Spirit who continues to work in a believer's life such that he/she will become more and more in the image of God, our Creator.

My dear Holy Spirit, thanks for your continual shaping and renewal work in my new self that I can be more like the image of my beloved God - my Creator. I pray that this also becomes the most earnest desire of my life - though I am not perfect but I am reflecting my God's beauty through the transformation of my life.
