A Life Worthy of God's Calling (12-18-2012)

December 18, 2012 - 2 Thessalonians 1:11

1:11

11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.

Every believer is characterized by the calling from our God - no matter you are minister or laymen. That makes no difference in the eyes of the Lord. We are all called by Him to glorify Him and to fulfill our final destiny. Paul prays that all believers really live out a life that is worthy of God's calling. We need to seek for God's calling in our life - earnestly seek for this calling and the goodness (a unique character of God) that comes from the calling. One of the sin is that we are too self-satisfied and too self-sufficient. A christian life with calling is always characterized by "seeking after Him", "desiring God" - a life of holy desire for God. This life of calling is also characterized by a life of "faith" - which is manifested in our deeds as we follow the will of the Lord - a life that is shown by taking risk for God.

I thanks God as I heard a testimony from a believer yesterday that how she is called by the Lord, experiencing how God is so faithful in delivering her and leading her to walk after His will. God is so faithful and so powerful in her calling and at the same time she is so desiring to follow Jesus by faith even to the point of suffering for Him with joy.

My Lord, thanks again for your calling in my life though I am such an imperfect person. You are faithful and you are powerful enough to fulfill your calling in my life. Stretch my faith everyday, expand my horizon, and may your love and beauty capture my heart to love you more and more with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind, and all my strength. Let me seek your face and may You show me your love and glory!
