14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit dwells in each one of us that our body is holy. Paul contrasts the union of our body with Christ to the union of our body with a prostitute, emphasizing that sexual immorality with our body is a tremendous downgrading of our body - the Spirit's temple. This body is united with the Lord in Spirit, and this body is redeemed at the price of the life of Jesus that is is used solely for honoring God. On the one hand, we have to resist all kinds of sexual bodily temptations, and on the other hand, to use our body - our strength, our mind, our affection, our will, for honoring God everyday.
My Lord, thanks for redeeming me and sending the Spirit to dwell in me. This is such a marvelous grace that I am your temple and holy wholly in your eyes. I must prepare and cleanse my body your temple that my Lord enjoys dwelling in it always and my body also becomes a honor to Your Name.
