Being a Living Sacrifice - A Daily Obedient and Faithful Life

February 19, 2013 - Romans 12:1-2

12:2

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Paul states that worship is ministry and true worship is not so much performing ritual things as offering our bodies as a living sacrifice daily. Living an obedient life daily is the best offering and worship/ministry offered to God by us. This way of spiritual life, Paul mentions, is living a transformed life by the renewal of our mind by the words of God through the Spirit that we know how to respond to God's will in our life. Christian life represents a living, dynamic, and dialogical relationship with our God. Life is not under our control and may be full of challenges but God has the best will and direction for our life. Responding to God by the Spirit and living an obedient and faithful life daily is the holy and pleasing sacrifice offered to God.

My God, Your salvation through Jesus has shown Your great mercy to me that I know that You have the good will in my life. My Holy Spirit, enlighten my mind and stir up my affection for loving God that I am no more driven by any human ambition or inner restlessness but living a life of serenity and gratitude to my heavenly Father.
