11 Never be lacking in
zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Paul exhorts believers to have zeal and spiritual fervor for serving the Lord. Spiritual passion - zeal/fervor - is one of the most important qualities of a believer. Losing our zeal, we become mediocre or lukewarm Christians. Believers have the responsibility to keep their spiritual fervor by the Holy Spirit.
My dear Holy Spirit, keep me passionate for serving the Lord. There are various factors which drain our passion, like anxieties, worries, frustrations, self-complacency, confusions, etc. Please speak to me through the words of God everyday that I am kept in your love. Also help me focus on your Kingdom and not relying on my strength. I pray that I become your instrument for doing your will while at the same time fulfilling your plan in my life. Help me diminish my ego as I learn to surrender my will to Your Will that Life of Christ can be further exalted in my life by the Spirit. I know that this is a life-long process that requires my close attention to God's work in my life. But give me rest and serenity as I focus my eyes on God by faith.
