Live Our Life as a "Spirit-Circumcised Person"

February 4, 2013 - Romans 2:28-29

2:28

2:29

28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

Paul explicitly states that a real Jew - real people of God - is one inwardly and having circumcision of the heart by the Spirit - that is having a real inner life change that is produced by the works of the Spirit instead of external behavior merely being conformed by outside form or regulations like the ethnic Jews in the Jewish religion. Paul relates the regeneration of our inner soul - the heart - as the evidence for us being the people of God.

My Holy Spirit, I thanks again for your regeneration work in my heart, conducting an inner circumcision   surgery not in my flesh but in my soul though I even did not know about You at my conversion time. Your cutting in my heart is an everlasting mark that I have been set apart from the world and belong to God forever. Dear Holy Spirit,  empower me live everyday's life as a new person whose heart had been circumcised by the Spirit - as a "Spirit-circumcised" person.
